NID service will be closed on Wednesday till 2:00 pm

The National Identity Card (NID) server has been down since Tuesday (September 19) morning. It has been reported that the server is down due to maintenance work. As a result, all services related to National Identity Card will be closed for the next 28 hours.

Shafiqul Islam, junior consultant of the communication branch of the iDEA project related to NID, said that the maintenance work of the server is ongoing. He said, 'Server maintenance work is ongoing. All NID related services will be closed till 2 PM on September 20 due to maintenance work. The authorities are sincerely sorry for the temporary inconvenience.'

Earlier, NID's servers were shut down for about 38 hours from 12:00 PM on August 14 to prevent cyber-attacks.

Before that, the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) in a letter written to the EC about server complications in June last year said that there was an outage on the EC server for half an hour last February, about two hours in March and about 31 and a half hours in May. Even in June they could not enter the server for two days.

It may be noted that, according to the updated data of 2022, the number of voters in the country is 11 crore 91 lakh 51 thousand 440 people. Among them, 6 crore 4 lakh 45 thousand 724 are male voters. And women voters are 5 crore 87 lakh 4 thousand 879 people. There are also data on 837 transgender voters and 1 million Rohingyas.
